This installation is part of the Milwaukee Public Market’s Holiday Window Display, a collaborative project with the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) that transforms St. Paul Avenue into a festive public art experience. Until January 31, ten large-scale, student-designed window installations light up the block between Broadway and Water Street, each offering a unique reflection on winter, creativity, and community.
About the Art: Ukrainian Village is an illustrated hidden-objects scene inviting viewers to discover moments of people preparing for the holidays in a traditional Ukrainian village. The piece extends beyond the window itself, encouraging viewers to search for additional “hidden charms” within the Market and experience a sense of playful interactivity.
Lisova was inspired by her upbringing as a first-generation Ukrainian American and the warmth of her family’s holiday traditions. Through this work, she seeks to honor those traditions and invite others to share in that sense of nostalgia and connection. The piece offers a glimpse into the joy and togetherness her parents worked to preserve.
About the Artist: Hailing from Park Ridge, Illinois, Marina Lisova is an aspiring Creative Director completing her BFA in Communication Design at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. She values structure and systematic thinking in her work, using these principles to strengthen her creative process. The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
