6 Spices, 60 Dishes: Indian Recipe Book Signing with Chef Ruta Kahate!
February 3rd from 6:30pm-8pm.
$25/person or $45/person with the purchase of a signed copy of the cookbook
We are pleased to host local chef Ruta Kahate, the owner of Ruta’s Vibrant Indian Café located on Milwaukee’s East Side. She has always approached Indian cooking with her own unique twist: fresh, light, contemporary. Her new cookbook uses just 6 spices—cayenne, coriander, cumin, turmeric, mustard seed, and asafetida—to create 60 dishes that are easy to prepare but deliver rich, complex flavor. The book reflects Ruta’s culinary life on two continents, and includes vibrant recipe photography. 6 Spices, 60 Dishes is a must-have for anyone who wants to quickly and easily add delicious, healthy Indian flavors to their weeknight repertoire.
During the 90-minute event, Ruta will introduce you to the six key spices and demonstrate how to work with them to maximize flavor and nutrition. You’ll sample some of the dishes from the book: (Spiced Oat Pancakes, Coconut Beef Stew, Split Peas with Zucchini and Green Beans, Jicama and Mango Salad) and interact with the author, who will be available to personally sign your copy of the cookbook.
Parking is available in the Market's main lot just off of Water Street. Make sure to bring your parking ticket to the class for validation.
Reservations are non-refundable, however you may send someone else to take your place. If we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, a full refund will be made.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
