Chef Jenny Lee grew up eating fruit for dessert. Her mother would lovingly peel apples with a knife by hand. The peel would always end up as a long spiral on the plate below her mother's hands. She loved eating Korean desserts at restaurants. In this demonstration class, learn how to make special Korean desserts like patbingsu and red bean mochi. During this hot summer, refresh yourself with patbingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert loaded with fruit and sweet red bean paste. Learn how to make mochi with the help of a microwave. Lastly, enjoy seasonal Korean fruit and learn about the significance of fruit in Korean culture.
Jenny Lee worked for chefs Tom Colicchio and Jean-Georges Vongerichten in New York City. She worked for Justin Aprahamian, chef/owner of Sanford in Milwaukee. She was born and raised in Wisconsin. She grew up eating Korean food every day.
