Demystifying Indian Cooking: Spice up your Winter
In this class, Ruta will teach from her latest cookbook, 6 Spices, 60 Dishes, which is being released by Chronicle Books in January 2023 (stay tuned for the launch party!) Learn how to create simple, fresh, delicious Indian dishes that you can easily incorporate into your daily repertoire:
Sweet Potato and Broccoli Curry
Brussels Sprouts with Fried Red Lentils
Aromatic Shrimp Pilaf
Chef, teacher, and author, Ruta Kahate knows a bit about Indian cooking. She ran a popular cooking school in the San Francisco Bay Area for years, led several culinary tours to India, and has owned and run multiple restaurants in Goa, a tropical paradise on India’s west coast.
Here in Milwaukee, Ruta serves up Indian Food that's light, bright, and healthful at her namesake café on the Eastside. She brings those same vibrant qualities to her cookbooks, with an added emphasis on making Indian cuisine accessible to the home cook. Think complex flavors without complicated cooking.
Ruta's first cookbook, 5 Spices, 50 Dishes, published by Chronicle Books, was an Amazon bestseller. Her second, Quick-Fix Indian (Andrews McMeel) contains 125 Indian recipes you can make in under 30 minutes.
